Reporting progress..

As a result of extensive product testing I can announce........  I love Essex linen....Unlike linen it has a lovely even weave, it is so good to sew with and gives a nice neat finish... So this weeks Zakka pencil case is satisfyingly neat.. I am a fan of Camille Roskelly's colour (or color as she is an American..) combination of Red and Turquoise... its a happy look and while I was searching through my scraps for this project I came across these.. I was too lazy to piece the band (it was around midnight..!!) and so I appliqued a piece of ribbon on the front but I realised afterwards that the sewing of the band was very easy... so future cases will have bands as well...

Reading the post by this weeks leader Kerry she has given several other looks that work well with this simple case... the instructions are very easy to follow... The turning through is particularly is ingenious and I think that the method would transfer to other sizes and styles. The rich variety of the items that are being posted to the Zakka Flickr group is inspiring- amazing that we are all working from the same basic instructions and produce such a variety of results. Kerry is also responsible for my purchase of  the Stamp Alphabet Roll... I am weak ;-)

If you want to catch up on the Zakka Style Sew Along.... go along here

So on my list for some Bank Holiday sewing are the small items I need to make for the Fat Quarterly Sample swap. I have a clear day and am looking forward to a whole day sewing... Watch this space..

  1. I keep seeing Zakka mentioned and the people who do have a similar look to those who talk about Zumba. I think Zakka is something I could manage. Zumba? Not so much. Anything to do with the deliciousness that is linen and I am in. Is there a book/resource you would recommend?

  2. I'm doing a Zakka sewalong.... Details here @ www.lrstitched?com .. We are sewing through the book Zakka style by Rashida Coleman-Hale... Cute simple useful items, generally combining linen & cotton prints. Book from the big A and I have another on the way.. The projects make great presents and each one is made by a different blogger so you get to travel around bogland too.
